Indepentent: Cameron calls on Argentina to respect results of Falklands referendum
In an open, globalised international system national borders have very little importance – people can travel and live wherever their work takes them. Territory and borders suddenly acquire importance when inept rulers run out of excuses for making a mess of the economy and everything else they touch. It’s absurd, but it’s easier to convince people to go kill each other than get them to work and prosper. Democracies don’t go to war with each other, they negotiate and exchange people and merchandise, it’s dictators who need to resort to war, to keep people under their thumb, over non-issues.
