The analysis is actually very good. Varoufakis – and Syriza with him -grossly miscalculated their nuisance power and lost big time, making the whole deal a lot worse and more protracted than required initially. They still win, with their supporters crucifying Merkel, Germany and the whole of the EU because the Greeks screwed up their calculation – but that’s parti pris, nothing to do with rational thought or behaviour. With a mighty push from Putin’s trolls, of course, ever present since they revamped their operation recently.
